Zoxo, Rocky, Brave, Samson & Rambo were abandoned on the side of a mountain with no shelter or water June 2013. The temperatures were tipping 25’c and when we found them Samson was aprox. 1 week old, Rocky 2 weeks, Rocky was so weak Donna had to carry him to the box. All of them severely dehydrated and starved. The evening they were brought back to D.E.S. Donna stayed up all night, every half hour giving small amounts of water and electrolytes. It was a temptation to let them all have a long deep drink but after not having water in those conditions letting them drink too much would send their little bodies into shock. Babs & Donna took it in turn to bottle feed the two youngest foals every 2 hours. The others were fed milk pellets until they were old enough to eat concentrated feeds. They all survived and are doing great. They will all be ready for foster homes at the end of the summer 2014.
